The NICA sanctioned carving competition wraps at noon on Saturday, January 16, with the winners being announced at 2 pm.  Watch the site for the 2010 winners.

  • First Place  - Ice Art of Sakha, Fyodor Markov and Vladimir Ignatjev from the Republic of Sahka, Russia for Meet Her Life
  • Second Place - Out of Africa, Lee Ross and Tamara Quinn from Zanzibar, Tanzania and Armina, AB for Stretched
  • Third Place - Scott and Kee, Scott Harrision and Kee Gawah from Calgary, AB and Stockholm, Sweden for Branching Out
  • Artist Choice - Ice Art of Sakha, Fyodor Markov and Vladimir Ignatjev from the Republic of Sahka, Russia for Meet Her Life
  • People’s Choice - Out of Africa, Lee Ross and Tamara Quinn from Zanzibar, Tanzania and Armina, AB for Stretched

  • The first annual Ice on Whyte Media Carving Competition took place on January 20th. Three teams that included Stacey Brotzel from City TV and artis Fran Cuyler, Nick Gulka from CFCW and artist Larry Andreoff and Harry Hodge and artist Delayne Corbett built three amazing carvings behind the castle. Stacey and Fran came in first.

  • Send us your best Ice on Whyte photos by January 25, 2010 and enter to win some fantastic prizes sponsored by Whyte Avenue businesses.  Winners will be announced on January 30, 2010.

    Photos must be in jpeg format, 4” X 6” in size and at least 300 dpi.

    Photos will become the property of the Ice on Whyte and may be used as collateral marketing for the festival.
