Ice On Whyte 2012 - International Ice Carving Competition Winners!

Chainsaw Wally here!  Well, sir, they've gone and done it again: Them-there international ice carvers have carved up a storm and now we got us some International Ice Carving Competition winners!  There was just a-furious competition happenin' all weekend long, from Jan 13 to 15, as 10 - count 'em, 10! - teams of carvers from around this here earth worked on their icy art masterpieces, from the wee hours til late at night.  People was just a-gawkin' and havin' a right good old time as them carvers from Mexico, Canada, Russia, Latvia, Great Britain, China, the Isle of Man, the U.S., and the Netherlands carved themselves silly. 

Some o' ya's was votin' up a storm too, picking your favour-right ice sculpture. (And hey, someone's gonna be the proud winner of a ski trip for 4 to Jasper on VIA Rail too, just for votin' and enterin' the draw!  Keep checkin' back here and we'll announce that too!)

And without further a-deeyoo, here are the results!  Are ya ready?  The 2012 International Ice Carvin' Competition winners are:

3rd Place - Canadian Ice Carver's Society - Ottawa, for their amazin' ice sculpture, "Standing Guard"

2nd Place - The First Team of China artists for the awesome sculpture, "Pastoral Guard" (the praying mantis)

1st Place - Ice Art of Sakha Russian artists Markov & Sivtsev for their ice masterpiece, "Awakening"

Congrat-you-ma-lations to all o' the hard working ice carvers at Ice On Whyte 2012!  These artists was just a-workin' their tales off to create some o' the most impressive works o' ice sculpturin' I ever did see with me own two eyes given to me from ma dear old Chainsaw Momma. (Literally.  Cuz one time my eyes popped right outta ma head and Momma had to pop 'em in back in again.  I love that dear ol' gal!).
