Winterlude is hosting the inaugural Canada Cup of Ice Carving from February 3 to 5, 2017, in partnership with Ice Magic in Lake Louise and the Ice on Whyte Festival in Edmonton, as part of Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation celebrations.

There are 3 major international ice carving competitions in Canada – Winterlude in Ottawa, Ice Magic in Lake Louise and the Ice on Whyte Festival in Edmonton. These competitions bring in ice carvers from around the world. Over the past few years, these three winter festivals have been working together to create the Canada Cup of Ice Carving. It will feature the best ice carving talent from Canada’s premiere international ice carving competitions. It will rotate annually between the three international ice carving competitions.

Ice Magic – January 19 to 21, 2017 in Lake Louise, Alberta
Winterlude – February 9 to 12, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario

In 2016, the three International Ice Carving Competitions were the qualifiers for this inaugural competition. The top scoring team from each of these Canadian competitions earned a guaranteed space in Ottawa this year. During this year’s competition, carvers can qualify for next year’s Canada Cup of Ice Carving which will be held in Lake Louise in 2018. The Canada Cup of Ice Carving comes to Ice on Whyte I 2019.
