The Ice On Whyte Festival Society adheres to all Government of Alberta Health & Safety regulations in place to reduce the impacts of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of all our artists, staff, volunteers and patrons.


The Ice on Whyte Festival Society is implementing the Government of Alberta Restriction Exemption Program (REP) and will require all staff, volunteers, artists, and patrons over the age of 12 to show the government issued proof of COVID-19 vaccine status, proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours of service, or documentation of a medical exemption. (See bottom of page for more details about REP)


We would appreciate those attending Ice On Whyte to read through the AHS self evaluation before arriving at Ice On Whyte. If you are experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms, we kindly ask you to stay home and isolate.

Masks are highly encouraged in all outdoor spaces. They will be required in indoor spaces at the Chippers Tent or where social distancing of 2 metres is not possible. All spaces on the Ice On Whyte site are outdoors other than portable washrooms.

Capacity/Entry:
Ice on Whyte will be operating at a reduced capacity. 

Fire Pits:
Only ONE cohort per fire pit. 

Chippers Tent:
Sheltered but not an enclosed space. Tables will be spaced appropriately. Ice block stations will be spread out as much as possible.
Masks are required in this area. 

Ice Sculpture Tents:
Sheltered but not an enclosed space.
Masks are highly encouraged in this area. 


STAFF & VOLUNTEERS: 

 All staff, artists and volunteers must adhere to the Restrictions Exemption Program:

      Proof of vaccine or proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours of service for indoor and outdoors locations whenever interacting with the public.

      Proof of vaccine or proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours of service for indoor locations if working in close proximity to other people.

Masks must be worn in accordance with the City of Edmonton mask requirements and Government of Alberta directives. Maintain a social distance of 2 meters when working with others. 

 Proof of Vaccine

The acceptable following forms of poof of vaccination include:

    An Alberta Vaccine record with QR Code – paper or digital
    QR Code records from other Canadian provinces
    First Nation vaccine records
    Canadian Armed Forces vaccine records
    Out-of-country vaccine records

The proof of vaccine must be matched against a valid personal identification method like a passport or driver’s license or status card.

Proof of Negative Test Result

As stated by the Government of Alberta:
The test result should be a written or printed copy that indicates the individual has tested negative for COVID-19 on a Health Canada approved rapid antigen, rapid PCR, or lab-based PCR test approved by Health Canada or the lab accreditation body of jurisdiction.

Written or printed copies will be accepted. Test results should include the type of test, time of sample, a negative result, and laboratory that conducted the test.

Medical Exemption

As stated by the Government of Alberta:
A valid medical exemption is the original signed letter from a physician or nurse practitioner that includes:

    Person’s name that matches their identification.
    Physician’s or nurse practitioner’s complete information, including:
–    name, phone number, contact information, professional registration number and signature
–    statement that there is a medical reason for not being fully vaccinated against COVID-19
    duration that the exemption is valid
