Ice on Whyte is please to offer 2 exciting school programs at the 2017 Ice on Whyte Festival as described in detail below. We invite you to sign-up early, as preregistration is required for all programs. Register online, spaces fill up quickly, so don’t miss out!

Ordinary People…Extraordinary Stories

As part of the Ice on Whyte Festival’s Canada 150 celebration, we are pleased to present the Ordinary People…Extraordinary Stories curriculum based school program.

This program will feature 3 interactive, progressive sessions on each week of the festival where students will meet characters from our past that have made extraordinary contributions to Canada’s past, present and future.
January 26 and 27:
– Aboriginal Life – Alex Decoteau
– Exploration – Anthony Henday
– The Fur Trade – Richard Charles Hardisty

February 2 and 3:
– The Northwest Mounted Police – Arthur Murray Jarvis
– The Railway – William Pace
– Settlement – Margaret Martin

This program takes place in a heritage village setting in a heated tent. Children spend 20 minutes at each story station.

School groups are also encouraged to enjoy the interactive outdoor play area.

There will be a dedicated area for students to enjoy snacks or lunches they bring along.

Each registered school group will be receive a confirmation letter that will provide the scheduled time for your Heritage Village sessions, your snack time with hot beverage details, play time, details for parking, as well as general information about your field trip.

The cost is $4 per student. (no charge for teachers and parent volunteers)

L’il Chipper Ice Carving Lessons

The Ice on Whyte Festival is pleased to present the L’il Chipper ice carving lessons for school groups. In this program, students get a hands-on ice carving lesson.

The L’il Chipper ice carving lessons take place in a heated inflatable igloo.

School groups are also encouraged to enjoy the interactive outdoor play area.

There will be a dedicated area for students to enjoy snacks or lunches they bring along.

Each registered school group will receive a confirmation letter that will provide your scheduled time for your L’il Chipper Class, your snack time with hot beverage details, play time, details for parking, as well as general information about your field trip.
